The tracks on this CD were meant as demo recordings, but by popular demand,
the recordings were released on this CD. Only 5000 copies were made, so it
has become a rare collector's item. I won it on eBay for $200.00...

"Don't Know Why" is the same recording, but without the
backing vocals that was added on the final release.
The other three are totally different recordings.
Now and then I get questions about where it is possible to
buy a copy of this CD, and just to save you the trouble of
writing an e-mail, I can only say that this CD is out of
print, and it can only be obtained on the used market via
e-bay or some other way. NOTE: I have heard that there may be
fake home made copies of "First Sessions" out there, so it is
adviceable to do some kind of checkup before you buy a copy unseen!

This is a Chinese HDCD edition. HDCD means "High Definition Compatible Digital".
The format is encoded with 20 bits of musical information, as opposed to
ordinary CDs, which are encoded with 16 bit musical data. This concept was
developed by Pacific Microsonics, Inc. (PMI) around 1996, which in Sep. 2000
were acquired by Microsoft Corporation. Click here for more info.
Some people say that this is a fake, that it is not a real HDCD. I can't say,
because I don't have a CD player that can recognize a HDCD.

This is a Japanese limited edition with the bonus track "What Am I To You"
on the first CD, and also a bonus CD. The bonus CD contains
four songs, plus the "Come Away With Me" video. The Singapore version,
which I also have obtained, does not contain "What Am I To You", but
instead it has an extra video, "Don't Know Why", which is not mentioned
anywhere. You'll have to start it in Explorer from the "Videos" folder.

These songs were recorded during August and September 2000,
i.e. a few weeks before Norah made her own demos for Blue Note.
Norah sings on all seven tracks, and this CD is more bluesy than
Norah's own debut album. Note: These recordings have NOT
been approved by Norah. They were recorded as demos, and
suddenly released after Norah became famous... If you have
any more information about this, let me know!
